Meals On Wheels Volunteers Always Needed Featured

January 2017 - THE Kitchen's Meals on Wheels program is always growing, serving between 850-900 clients on 58 routes in Wichita Falls every week day.  As of November 2016, we are now able to deliver to children with disabilities and their caregivers.  And, in March 2017, we will be delivering Meals on Wheels on the weekends too!  According to our surveys, 54% of our clients have been rationing food from their week day meals so they will not go hungry on Saturday and Sunday.  No more!  We are very excited to be able to fulfill our purpose, that no senior, disabled or home bound child or adult in our community goes hungry.

Each route takes routes can be delivered in less than an hour. Volunteers who deliver in pairs, with one driver and one runner, can be finished in as little as 30 minutes. You can even choose to deliver in your own neighborhood.

Our drive-thru system has cut down on volunteer pick-up time. Expect to wait no more than 5 minutes to receive your route sheet and have meals loaded into your vehicle. This extra convenience has helped to make becoming a Meals on Wheels volunteer easier than ever.

Meals can be picked up as early at 10:30 a.m. All routes must be delivered by 1:15.

If you are interested in becoming a Meals on Wheels volunteer, contact Lisa Williams, Volunteer Coordinator, at 940/322-6232 or fill out an application online at thekitchenwf.org. It will be the most fulfilling hour of your week.
